Greenville, N.C. – The Greenville Yard Gnomes picked up their first win of the regular season Friday night, defeating the Wilmington Sharks 4–3 at Guy Smith Stadium. Dan Bass set the tone on the mound, tossing four scoreless innings and allowing just two hits.

Greenville (1–5) got on the board early, as Will Applegate drove in David Lillis with an RBI single to right-center in the second inning.

Wilmington (3–4) responded in the top of the fourth. Cam Mitchem doubled down the left field line, scoring Brady Miller and Connor Powell to take the lead. Mitchem later came around to score on a Micah Davis groundout, extending the Sharks’ advantage to 3–1.

The Gnomes rallied in the sixth. Corey Berry delivered a clutch double to right-center, plating Tate Dickinson and Applegate. An error by Wilmington’s second baseman during the same play allowed Alex Ferrell to score the go-ahead run, putting Greenville back on top 4–3.

Bass and Reed Hartsfield combined for five scoreless innings in relief, limiting the Sharks to just two hits while issuing two walks to seal the victory.

Dan Bass earned the win, while Gavin Miller took the loss for Wilmington, giving up two earned runs in just one-third of an inning.
