Jack Schaffer

Head Coach

Jack Schaffer returns for his third season as the Field Manager of the Yard Gnomes.

Schaffer most recently was as an assistant coach at Wallace Dothan Community College for the last three years. The Govenors posted an impressive 44-8 record in 2024. His responsibilities include coaching the outfielders and catchers, assisting with hitters, and taking a lead in the programs’ recruiting efforts. Prior to his time at Wallace Dothan, Schaffer was a graduate assistant at Georgia State University where he aided the team in all facets of the program.

No stranger to summer ball, Schaffer spent two summers in the Northwoods League. In 2022, he served as an Assistant Coach/Intern with the Willmar Stingers. In 2023, he served as an Assistant Coach with the Bismarck Larks, taking home Coach of the Year honors at the conclusion of the season

Yard Gnomes Assistant Coaches

Nate Mentzel

Offensive Analyst: 1st summer in Greenville. Played 2 years at Edison State CC before moving to Shawnee State University. Just finished his first year on the coaching side at Shawnee State where he works with hitters, INF, and OF.

SJ Mousseau

Pitching Coach: 1st summer in Greenville. Previously served as Director of Pitching Development with Erskine College and pitching coach for St. Cloud State. SJ also has experience in the private sector, working for Driveline Baseball, Casciola Performance, and Push Performance.

Ryan Lovato

Bench Coach: 1st summer with Greenville. In his first year at Grossmont College in San Diego. Previously worked as a grad assistant at LSU and undergrad assistant at Arizona State University.

Mason Graves

Offensive Coordinator: 1st summer with Greenville. In his second year at Johnson University as their hitting and infield coach. Spent two years as a graduate assistant at Lincoln Memorial University before going to Johnson.
