Brody Gardner opened the scoring in the third with his first home run of the season, a two-run shot that also brought home Nick Palmi to give the Gnomes a 2-0 lead.

In the fourth, Danny Ramirez crushed a two-run homer to right-center, followed immediately by a solo blast from Palmi to extend Greenville’s lead to 5-0.

Morehead City (15-12) broke through in the fifth when Jaden Gustafson scored on a fielder’s choice. The Marlins inched closer in the sixth with back-to-back homers from Wyatt Stanley and Broedy Poppell, cutting the lead to 5-3.

Ramirez answered back in the bottom half of the inning with his second home run of the game, keeping the Gnomes in front. The Marlins made it 6-5 on a two-run shot by Tanner Mally, but Gardner’s second homer of the night in the seventh sealed the win for Greenville.
