GREENVILLE, N.C. — The Greenville Yard Gnomes have unveiled the Greenville Blackbeards as the club’s first alternate identity, paying tribute to Eastern North Carolina’s rich pirate history and the legendary figure whose legacy has become synonymous with the region.

The Blackbeards identity will make its on-field debut on Thursday, July 9, when the Yard Gnomes take the field in specially designed Blackbeards uniforms at Guy Smith Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30pm. A live Blackbeard will greet you as you enter the park. Tickets can be purchased here or at the box office on game day.

The alternate brand celebrates Greenville’s ties to the legend of Blackbeard, honoring one of the most recognizable figures in North Carolina history. The uniforms combine historic influences with modern design to create a distinctive identity that reflects the character and heritage of Eastern North Carolina. The jerseys were designed by Buenos Biscuits (Guile Contreras) and Sierra Gonzalez.

“The Blackbeards identity gives us an opportunity to celebrate what makes Greenville and Eastern North Carolina unique,” said General Manager John McCormick. “We wanted to create something that connects our community’s history with a fun and memorable experience for our fans. We’re thrilled that we were able to turn our Yard Gnomes beard into a Blackbeard.”

Fans attending Thursday’s game will be among the first to see the Blackbeards uniforms in action. The special identity will be featured during Thursday night home games and select road games throughout the season.
