Greenville, N.C. – The Greenville Yard Gnomes dropped a 6-1 decision to the Peninsula Pilots on Sunday night at Guy Smith Stadium.
Greenville (13-22) got on the board first in the bottom of the third inning when Josh Mason scored on a throwing error by the Pilots’ shortstop.
Peninsula (26-11) quickly answered in the fourth, tying the game on a solo home run to left center by Curry Sutherland.
The Pilots broke the game open in the sixth when Tyler Zedalis launched a grand slam to give Peninsula a 5-1 lead. They added an insurance run in the ninth as Sammy Mummau scored on a wild pitch.
Peyton Dhein earned the win for Peninsula, tossing two scoreless innings and allowing just one hit. Jack Gazadacka took the loss for Greenville, surrendering two earned runs on three hits in just two-thirds of an inning.
