Greenville, N.C. – The Greenville Yard Gnomes are thrilled to announce that three standout players have been named to the 2025 Coastal Plain League (CPL) All-Star Showdown, set for July 6–7 at Luther Williams Field in Macon, Georgia.
Jon Howard, a first baseman who has been a cornerstone of Greenville’s offense this summer. Howard is currently batting .329 with 15 RBIs and 4 home runs—tied for fifth-most in the league. Known for his power at the plate and high baseball IQ, this marks Howard’s first CPL All-Star selection. At Mount Olive last season, he recorded 47 RBIs, 56 hits, and 10 home runs.
Quinn Holt, a right-handed pitcher who has emerged as one of the league’s most dependable arms. He owns a 3.11 ERA through 17.1 innings pitched and is currently tied for second in the CPL with 23 strikeouts. Holt’s command of the strike zone has been a major asset for the Yard Gnomes. At Keystone last season, he posted a perfect 6-0 record with a 3.06 ERA over 53 innings.
Jesse Ponce, a shortstop from Dallas Baptist, rounds out the trio with a strong two-way showing this season. Offensively, he has recorded 15 hits and 7 RBIs. Defensively, Ponce has tallied 38 assists and holds a .933 fielding percentage. A fan favorite for his consistency and hustle, Ponce previously starred for Northern Oklahoma, where he tallied 68 hits and 47 RBIs last season.
The CPL All-Star Showdown will spotlight top collegiate talent from across the league, offering players the opportunity to perform in front of scouts, fans, and coaches nationwide.
Up Next: The Yard Gnomes return to action on Tuesday, July 1st, as they face the High Point-Thomasville HiToms at Finch Field. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
