McCormick Named General Manager of Yard Gnomes

Greenville, NC – The Greenville Yard Gnomes are excited to announce the hiring of John McCormick as the team’s General Manager. A passionate advocate for baseball and community engagement, McCormick brings a wealth of experience from his time working with the Coastal Plain League, East Carolina University and the Texas Rangers organization.

McCormick, a 2019 graduate of East Carolina University, first entered the Coastal Plain League in 2017 as a multimedia intern, the very league in which the Yard Gnomes compete. From there, McCormick spent two seasons working with the Morehead City Marlins, gaining invaluable experience while the team won back-to-back Petitt Cup Championships.

“I’m excited to return to the Coastal Plain League and to have the opportunity to build something special here in Greenville,” said McCormick. “Our goal is to make the Yard Gnomes a true community staple—where families can come together to enjoy competitive baseball and create lasting memories. I also want to create pathways for local players, from little leaguers to high school athletes, to stay in Greenville and develop their skills with the Yard Gnomes before making their way into professional baseball. This is a place where local talent can thrive.”

McCormick has honed his skills with the Texas Rangers’ Minor League teams, where he served as the General Manager of Food & Beverage, Director of Special Events and Senior Account Executive. His latest role included overseeing hospitality operations for the Down East Wood Ducks and Hickory Crawdads.

The Yard Gnomes organization is excited to have McCormick leading the charge as they continue to build upon their commitment of fostering a family-friendly atmosphere and making a positive impact in the Greenville area.

“We are thrilled to welcome John to the Yard Gnomes family,” said team owner Jerry Petitt. “We’re looking forward to working together to take this franchise to the next level.”

The Yard Gnomes are gearing up for an exciting season ahead, with McCormick focused on creating an engaging, community-oriented experience for fans of all ages. The team will continue to offer local athletes the chance to play for their hometown team while developing their skills and advancing their careers in baseball.

The Greenville Yard Gnomes are a collegiate summer baseball team in the Coastal Plain League. The Yard Gnomes play their home games at Guy Smith Stadium from late May to early August. Visit www.yardgnomesbaseball.com for more information.
