GREENVILLE, N.C. — The Greenville Yard Gnomes have emerged as one of the Coastal Plain League’s top teams in 2026, posting a 15-win season before the calendar has even turned to July.

Greenville currently sits in a playoff position with approximately six weeks remaining in the regular season. The Yard Gnomes have been especially successful away from home, leading the league with seven road victories.

Speed has been the driving force behind Greenville’s success. The Yard Gnomes lead the Coastal Plain League with 100 stolen bases, while adding 28 more in exhibition games. Their stolen base total is 34 higher than any other team in the league. Offensively, Greenville ranks fourth in the CPL with 136 runs scored.

Returning Yard Gnome Jacob Green (South Florida) has paced the offense, batting .455 with three home runs and eight RBIs. Jeremiah Gary (Chipola) is hitting .352 in 68 plate appearances while contributing 10 RBIs and 19 stolen bases. Brothers Matthew and Michael have combined for 10 doubles, three home runs, 19 RBIs, 14 walks and 17 hit-by-pitches. Corey Berry (Columbus State) leads the Coastal Plain League with 23 stolen bases and has successfully converted 96 percent of his stolen base attempts.

On the mound, Evan Koehler (Georgia Southwestern) has logged 14 innings with a 3.86 ERA, striking out 15 batters while issuing just three walks. Luke Lambert (Pitt Community College) leads the Yard Gnomes with 19 strikeouts. Lambert owns a 2.02 ERA across 13 1/3 innings pitched.

With a balanced combination of speed, pitching and timely hitting, the Yard Gnomes have positioned themselves as one of the CPL’s contenders as the season enters its second half.

The Yard Gnomes compete in the Coastal Plain League, one of the nation’s premier collegiate summer baseball leagues. Entering the 2024 summer season, more than 1,750 CPL alumni have been drafted by Major League Baseball organizations, with 200 players reaching the majors. Notable alumni include Justin Verlander, Ryan Zimmerman, Mark Reynolds, Kevin Youkilis, Alec Bohm, and Super Bowl XLVIII–winning quarterback Russell Wilson.
