Greenville, N.C. – The Greenville Yard Gnomes are proud to announce that former outfielder JC Vanek has been selected by the Kansas City Royals with the 428th overall pick in the 14th round of the 2025 Major League Baseball Draft.

A standout from Chipola College, Vanek made an immediate impact during the Gnomes’ 2024 campaign, bringing a dynamic presence to the lineup. In 12 games with Greenville, he slashed .370/.426/.609, recording 17 hits in 46 at-bats, including four doubles and two home runs. He also tallied 14 runs, seven RBIs, and six stolen bases, while striking out just nine times.

After the 2024 summer season with the Gnomes, Vanek enjoyed a stellar 2025 season at Chipola College. Over 50 games, he batted .395 with 9 home runs, 43 RBIs, 50 runs scored, and 7 stolen bases, establishing himself as one of the top hitters in junior college baseball.

Vanek’s selection by Kansas City is a historic moment for the franchise, as he becomes the first player in Yard Gnomes history to be selected in the MLB Draft. His journey is a testament to both his dedication and the developmental opportunities within the Coastal Plain League.
